Students who have demonstrated a commitment to promoting civil rights for and preventing discrimination against LGBTQ+ people are encouraged to apply for these scholarship opportunities.
The LGBT Equity Scholarship (open to all UMD students) is generously supported by the LGBT Scholarship Fund, which will provide two UMD students with $1,500 awards in the 2020-2021 academic year. Recipients must be full-time students at the University of Maryland, College Park, during the 2020-2021 academic year. All students (undergraduate/graduate) who will be full-time during the 2020-2021 academic year are eligible to apply.
The Robert R. Satterfield LGBTQ+ Opportunities Endowed Scholarship (only BSOS students will be considered) was established in August 2016 by Mr. Robert R. Satterfield '95, which will award one $1,500 scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year. The recipient must be a full-time student, with a declared major in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. Sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students are eligible to apply.
Students should only apply ONCE to be considered for both award opportunities.
Applicants must provide the following.
A short statement outlining your qualifications regarding a demonstrated commitment to promoting civil rights for and preventing discrimination against LGBTQ+ people.
A one-page resume.
An unofficial transcript.
